Welcome to the Polytechnic of Namibia Linux Users Group or PoNLUG for short. We are a group of students at the Polytechnic of Namibia who are interested in Linux. Namibia is a sparsely populated country on the South-west coast of Africa and as far as Information Technology is concerned, the Polytechnic is the country's premier institution for higher education. ![]()
As of 2011 all of the IT Labs at the Polytechnic School of IT are using Ubuntu Linux instead of Microsoft Windows. This is a sudden change and a lot of students may be unfamiliar with the operating system. Because of this, a secondary function of the group is to provide support for new users who have little or no experience with Linux or are having difficulties with anything Linux related. News and updates will be posted here. You can subscribe using RSS to be automatically notified when a new post is made and read it on your computer or phone. Please sign up to join the Discussion Forum and participate actively either using the site's interface or via your e-mail by sending mail to PoNLUG@googlegroups.com. Feel free to use the Webchat at any time. In future there will be schedule online meetings in the chatroom but for now it's ad hoc. If you would like to help in any way check the To-Dos page to see if there are any tasks for you to take charge of or to create your own task. We have a file-cabinet for storing files related to the group and a calendar with related events, feel free to use either. We hope you enjoy being a part of the group! |
